    Default Beam System Drawing Slow

Our model is set-up so that joists span between girders on a sloped roof. As the architect makes changes to the roof slope, we are required to adjust the girder offsets from the work plane they are referenced to. When we do this it is terribly slow sometimes taking upwards of 10 minutes just to adjust the girder elevation. We believe the joists framing into the beams are causing the slow regeneration time because when we make adjustments to girders without the joists the process only takes a couple seconds. We have course detail for the view and I have tried to change all joists to course detail. Does anyone have any tips of how to improve this issue. Any advice would help. Thanks.

You are using Open Web joists?
If you don't need to display all the webs and such during your initial modelling, you could create a simplified version of the Joist family that has many less elements. Changing an OpenWeb Joist in the model requires a lot of regeneration.

When you are closer to finished with the project and everything has settled down, you can reload the original joist family back in, and it will update all the instances (that will probably take a while, but you don't have to do it often.)
