Default Specification Recommended for Autocad MEP 2008 not that great

My PC is running the following Specification and its running so slowly its making 3D modelling a chore:

    HP xw4400 Workstation
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs)
    3328MB RAM
    DirectX 9.0c
    ATI FireGL V7200 256.0 MB
    Realtek HD Audio output
    250Gb Hard Drive (181Gb free)
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
    Autocad MEP 2008
    Navisworks 2009

The autodesk website says i need at least this:

Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home edition (SP2 or later)
    Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® dual-core processor, 3 GHz or greater with SSE2 technology
2 GB RAM, 3 GB recommended
4 GB free disk space for default install, 4.2 GB for full install
    1,024 x 768 display with true color, 1,280 x 1,024 true color recommended
128 MB graphics card; 256 MB or greater, Direct3D®-capable workstation-class 3D graphics card recommended

Mine is more than sufficant for running the program
Could any help with any ideas how to quicken my machine up or recommended a PC spec that they would say was good enough if not better to run this at a reasonable speed
    Cheers
    Mark

Is your video card/driver on Autodesk's certified graphics card list? If so, do you have hardware acceleration turned on?

When we ran MEP2008 we found it helped to disable digital sigs.

Run the AcSignOpt.exe file which usually lives in C:\WINDOWS\system32 (if it's not there do a search).

Go into options in MEP and under the display tab uncheck Display Digital Signature Information

    You'll need to reboot. HTH.

Don't for get the 3 gig switch. You have the Ram in the box, but windows won't see it, if you didn't set up for the 3 gig switch.
What kind of file size are you dealing with?
