Images won't plot

Using HP DesignJet 500 for years. It has decided recently that I don't need to see jpg's on sheets when I plot directly to it. I have looked everywhere incl HP forums but don't see a reason. Nothing I've done to try to reconfigure the plotter has helped. Also, if I print to PDF and then plot from there it works, but all of the colors are way darker. Just another day in the salt mines.

Have you tried using Raster in lieu of Vector in the Print dialog box?

Are the images jpgs, tiff, bmp, png ?

Have you tried printing to PDF or DWF?

I've had this same problem recently since starting a new project in 2010. The image is a jpeg in our border file. The image won't plot when sent to our kip plotters, but it will show if sent to pdf or dwf. I tried plotting with both vector and raster but no luck. Has anyone else ran into this recently?

Images are typically jpg and show up in print preview. PDF works fine but printing from PDF to machine come out too dark. Used to work fine & don't know where I lost it.

Have you tried Raster printing to the Kip?

Glenn, go in the driver's "printer preferences, on the last tab "services" select the icon "troubleshooting menu" and make sure you uncheck "enable smartspool". That did it for me.

Yes, I tried raster printing also. The frustrating part is that we used this same border file with the same image in a project in 2009 and had no problems. But, since upgrading this border file to 2010 it will not plot. I tried reimporting the jpg into the border and that did not work either.

You can also check the properties of the image file itself...if its too high of resolution it wont plot on some plotters/printers. I seem to recall trying to keep a resolution of 400 and less. 200 would be your best bet.

I could not find these settings on our kip plotters. Has anyone who uses a kip plotter experienced this problem or have a solutions?
