Question Xref - Overlay - set to Relative

Hello. Does anyone know how I can set automatically the xref attachment to be relative by customising the cui file? I know how to set it to 'overlay' but I need the relative set too. This is ideal when moving whole projects to different network locations. We are using LT2007.

    Ta.

    Not with LT.

With AutoCAD, you can set a registry key to the appropriate value before calling the ._XATTACH command and the path type will be set to relative. But there is no lisp support in LT.

Thanks for the reply to my earlier posting.

Although we are using LT we can change the registry settings. We are doing it now forcing everyone to look at the correct areas for printers , palettes etc. So if you know where the registry setting is please let me know.

I meant that you can't change the registry setting using Autolisp. If someone doesn't get to it first, I'll post the location when I get back to work on Tuesday.

    Found it this morning...

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\Rxx.x\ACAD-xxxx:xxx\Profiles\<<Unnamed Profile>>\Dialogs\XattachDialog

Your version, language, and profile name may be different.

The key is "pathtype" - set it to 1
If a relative path is impossible (because the current drawing is unsaved, or on a different server, etc.) then it will revert back to pathtype 0 (full) before the dialog is displayed.

Question Re: Xref - Overlay - set to Relative

    Thanks.

I have seen this setting but I thought all it did was make the attachment type either 'attach' or 'overlay'? Our customised menu sets 'xreftype' to 1, and gets the dialogue box up for the user to search for their xref. I am trying to force the 'Path type' to Relative.

Not sure what else to tell you. This *is* the correct key for setting the 'Path Type' to relative.

"XRefType" is not the same value as "PathType".
