Default Point Cloud in Revit - Export Sheet to CAD

I have been told and tried some workarounds myself, but is there anyway to get a sheet exported to CAD that contains a sectioned view of a point cloud. I am in denial that there is no way to export this to CAD. This is a huge issue for us.
If not, what are my alternatives, back to 3d modeling steel in AutoCad?
Someone suggested drawing the outline of the cloud section cut with linework. But, seriously? I am reduced to that?

    Anyone have any input?

    Regards,
    Tim

No, you can't generate a Point Cloud section and export it to CAD. The reason is that the point cloud is its own entity and not a Revit entity, thus nothing to export.

That being stated, the newer versions of CAD can take point cloud data. You could export the Revit information to a CAD file, then bring the point cloud in at the proper coordinates. In theory, you can then get them to line up in CAD.

The bigger question: is there a reason to export it to CAD in the first place? The answer is yes, I can think of several reasons, but often Revit is perfectly capable of handling most modeling. In my own company we also use Plant 3D so exporting to CAD is a must from Revit. So we link the Revit model in to CAD (as a CAD export) and also link in the point cloud data into CAD. They line up and we model off the point cloud in Plant 3D.

Use Recap to export to PTS, import PTS into CAD, then import it (dwg) to Revit. create families for example.
