Default OLE object being plotted outside viewport

For my company some of our drawings require pictures. I have always inserted these as .pdf's, as OLE object in autocad in model space. Then I create a viewport in paperspace and zoom (not to scale) the picture until it is focused on the required part. When this is printed to any of the office printers it is fine. However pdf versions are sometimes required for email. When this drawing is made into a pdf, the entire OLE object (picture) prints, regardless of viewport size. Why is this happening, and why is it only when going to pdf?

We print out CAD drawings to a program called pdf creator plus. The file in this program is not a pdf yet, and the CAD file still appears correct. If printed from this program it will still be correct. But once the file is made into a pdf the problem occurs.

P.S. I have read some other problems about this where default margin bugs have been mentioned. I do not feel this is the case for me as the problem still ocurrs if I place the viewport in the center of the page 3 inches (i.e. definitely far enough from the margins) from each side.

Why are you not using PNG for the pictures? You also fail to mention what version of AutoCAD.
