Default Change material of object in Linked revit model

If you link a revit model into a main revit model, is there any way to change the rendering material of an object that is linked? We can graphically override the line work of linked model objects but I don't see how to change the material for rendering. Do we have to open up the other revit model and change the objects material and then save and reload to the main revit model in order to get the rendered look we need?

    Thanks for your help.

    *bump*

What about if you have two linked files, and you want to have different materials for the roofs when rendering in the host file?

Is there a simple way to override this, or would you need to use design options within the linked file?
