Who here has one???
Are you happy with it???
Any problems with it???
Would you say it's worth the extra $1000 compared to getting dual 24s or a 32" LCD HD TV???

I'm not sure about the Dell 30" but I bought a Dell 24" a couple of years ago and its been cloudy looking now for about a year. Screen deteriorated very noticably.
I would say once you go above 24" I wouldn't be worrying about dual monitors, it just depends on whether you can justify the cost of the 30".
As for Dell quality, I have had two entry level 22" at home for nearly 2 years now, and they have been hassle/error free. No complaints here.
with the new GUI, wouldn't it make more sense to use these widescreen monitors vertically?
The additional screen space lost vertically for the inclusion of the ribbon and the resultant loss of vertical size reduces the useable area of the screen.
Has anyone used revit this way with dual 24" vertically?
I cannot stress this enough: You DO NOT want to use an HDTV as a computer monitor.
The largest resolution of current 1080p HDTV displays is 1920x1080. Most displays 24" and larger run 1920 x 1200, and 30" computer monitors run 2560x1600 - MUCH higher than even the largest TV display.
Ya, my tech suggested I try it.
It's actually not too bad. Though I want more resolution than I'm getting.
For some reason I cannot even achieve the 1920x1090. The best I'm getting is 1440x900.
I'll be bringing it back to the store.
I've always had Samsung monitors which I like. In the last month I've bought 2-25.5" Acers. I couldn't get the correct resolution so brought them back. Then I got 2-24" LGs and they were total ****, and brought them back.
So i've got a 32" Samsung LCD HD TV and it's ok but not awesome.
So now I'm trying to find something bigger than 24".
Dell is the only manufacturer that I could find with 30" display.
I've been reading both good and bad reviews. They're very inconsistent.
So that's what brings me to asking about it.

newegg.com has a few 30" displays.
I have always been impressed with the quality of Dell UltraSharp displays, although they are pretty pricey. I've had a ViewSonic 20" 1680x1050 display at home for over 3 years now and it's been pretty good, also.
So is the Dell the only large monitor that can do 2560 x 1600 resolution?
I don't recall coming across another with those specs.
Just to revisit your previous question. I have 26 Dell Precision Workstations, each using a pair of 24" monitors sitting side-by-side (horizontally) and have not had a moment of trouble with any of them. I don't know what Sultarc used to clean his screens, but you NEVER want to use glass cleaner. Only use 100% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. The ammonia in glass cleaner causes a permanent haze on LCD screens that cannot be removed. I've seen the 30" Dell monitors, but remember that they will drain your video card more to get the higher resolutions.
If you'd like to discuss the Dell 30' monitors with someone who has one, PM William Sutherland (ws). He's using one in a triple config with 2-21" monitors vertically.
Thanks Mike.
I thought he had the Dell as well, but he doesn't.
