Laptop - Dell Studio XPS 16

Hi,
I am about to purchase a Laptop.
I have read the sticky by Wes but was wondering if someone actually have any hands-on experience with Dell Studio XPS 16.

Where I was going to get it from didn't have the XPS computers.
So, has anyone used the Dell Studio 15?

What are you looking to spend on this system? I have been pricing a new laptop for a few months and just waiting for the cash to come in to buy it. The one I am pretty set on is Dell Precision M6400 Mobile Workstation mainly because it has the 1GB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M along with the big LCD (and a few other bells and whistles).

Hi,
I got the Studio 17 yesterday.
After installing and running RST2010 I have to say that I am pleased. I tried a 25MB file of a shopping centre. In 3D view with purlins turned on I didn’t have any major issues zoomin around and spinning the model.

Good choice. Planning to get mine on January. Just giving my old Dell Precision M4300 enough time to retire after 18 months ( This December ). Gonna get the Extreme version with 8GIG RAM. 512 is enough for me for my display. Revit doesn't really get full use of it. Only when using my Vue 7, only then it is necessary.

The Studio models are exemplary budget machines for running Revit. I have yet to see the Studio XPS 16 running Revit, but I have seen several Studio 15's and they all are running Revit very well for under a thousand bucks with 4Gb of RAM. The Studio XPS has faster RAM specs and probably newer technology on the mainboard, but its black gloss finish means dust and fingerprints galore.

This machine also has backlit keyboarding, which is not listed on Dell's website for some reason.

Just to mention:

Dell's Alienware 15" laptops are now coming with the new i7 processor (8 cores), which as per reviews is the most powerful processor for laptops out there. As far as I know the new mobile i7 only uses 8 cores if the application is multithreaded. If it's not, then all performance is shifted to one core, instead of being divided among all cores and not being used.
