    Default New Area Scheme

I have several options in my Revit File. So I have created a new area scheme. But when I try to outline my model in the new plan I get errors. I've changed the visibility to the option I want and to the view I'm in. The option is turned off. I'm still getting errors. What am I doing wrong? I've done this in the past and it worked, but it's been so long I can't remember how exactly I did it.
    Thanks

What specific errors are you getting?
If the option you are trying to add items to is turned off in that view, you will get an error saying "None of the created elements are visible in this view".

The error I get is that I can not create an area plan inside an option. So I turn the option off. Then when I use the pick tool I get an error that says the line can not be created. I have created separate views and plans for each floor plan option. Maybe i'm remembering wrong. But I've use to be able to use the Pick tool, not just the line tool.

I think I'm following you Devin,
Try setting your design option back to "Main Model" and in the area plan view, under V/G overrides, set your design option to show the option you want to see - that should allow you to use the "Pick Lines" tool for your area boundaries on any object that is in either the main model, or the option of that view.

Is that helpful? Or am I not understanding?

yes you are understanding it correctly. And your screen shots are great. This is what I have actually done. And it still won't work using the Pick tool.

Are we talking about this "Pick Lines" tool while trying to draw area boundary lines?

What type of lines are you trying to "pick".
I have tried this with walls and am unable to get it to NOT let me pick the walls.

yes exactly. I am picking the outside edge of my walls and I get the error, So I have to just draw them with the "Line Tool"

I'm not sure what we're doing different.

I'd be happy to take a look at it if you'd like.

You have to create multiple area schemes. Create an area plan for each area scheme, and set the area plan view visibility to show the desired options. While editing the main model, create all area calculation boundaries and tags in that area plan view.
