Think that is his way of saying update 2 is out for Civil and Civil 3D 2010.

If the original post was a copy of the email you got from Autodesk, the forum admins and BoD would say you broke the rules by coping it here. Just a FYI.

    Hi Folks,

Adding to the previous posts: there are a number of memory, performance, and scalability-related improvements in Web Update 2. Here are a few notables:
    • Memory allocation during start-up
    • Performance Improvements between Civil 3D and Vault
    • File Size Improvements
    • Memory Usage Improvements

There’s a whitepaper (coming soon) that goes into more detail. Until then, go to the Updates & Service Packs download page. After the temporary URL's from above expire, go to www.autodesk.com/civil3d, and then click Support > Data & Downloads > Updates & Service Packs > Civil 3D 2010.

Thanks for piping in Dave. The memory issues you mentioned, will this help with the out of memory errors? It's really embarassing when I'm training students and I get out of memory messages.

    Hi Brian,

    MJ, eh?

Admittedly, it’s difficult to say for certain without knowing exactly what’s causing your errors. If I may be broad: you should notice the biggest impact when changing between AutoCAD layouts in drawings that contain corridor models and while opening legacy drawings. There are still other improvements of equal importance, but they are less specific.

The whitepaper will have more details.

I like crashing in front of a class rom full of users. It shows them that even us pros have the problems and "Maybe" we won't get as many support calls with just the "It Crashed" statements.

Thanks for the info Dave. I'm looking forward to the white paper. Gotta love exciting reading like that, "And then the good programmer knight slayed the evil memory leak monster and everyone lived happilly ever after!"
