Default Need to see family category information from within a project easier

Families that are loaded, it would be so good if I could "ID" each part of it in an "ID family" mode - it would tell me which parts were in each category - and how the materials are defined. If I go into a model that somebody else has done and want to redefine a material it can be VERY, VERY difficult to work out which category I need, which material I nedd or is it a paramater in the family. . . . . . . . . . .
