    Default Render spots (big ones...)

    Hi all,

I tend to constantly get large white spots (like soft spotlights) all over my renders...

I think you must be able to control it through the custom edit... options, but I have no idea what the setting is that controls this behaviour.

I have attached an image that shows the issue, any help on understanding what this is would be great : )

    Thanks

Cool Re: Render spots (big ones...)

From our experience, this is caused by the lighting, and the reflectance of the materials in the scene.

Try reducing the lighting intensity. Looks like it is very "hot".

Look at the Materials, and if they have "gloss" parameters, reduce or make "matte"
    for Paint, wood, etc.

    hope this helps

    cheers.........

What render setting are you using? The specific setting that should help smooth out the splotchies is the Indirect Illumination Smoothness setting (under Indirect Illumination Options). Try bumping that up to at least 6.

Try searching for "light mold", there has been lots of discussion about this since 2009 came out with the Mental Ray engine.
