Question 'Flange' and 'Slip Joint' ducts

    Hi,

Can I convert existing ducts with 'flange' to ducts with 'slip joint' in AutoCAD MEP 2009?

    Many Thanks!

    Micky.

Question Re: 'Flange' and 'Slip Joint' ducts

hmm... but when I want to change connection type for example 'flange' to 'slip joint' and select ''only'' ducts everything works fine ...

... the problem is when I select the whole system - ducts and duct fittings or just only duct fittings... I can do nothing.

    Any suggestion?

    Many Thanks.

Connector types for AMEP duct parts are almost useless. There is no real reason or application for them. Most of them do not even represent real-world connector types (Ductmate, TDF, TDC, S&D). Though Autodesk was on the right track when they gave connector types to duct parts, they arent really usefull for anything but causing connection conflicts, and you cant create your own types. I am assuming the only reason you want to change connector types is so that you can hide/show flanges on your parts. My guess is that one or more of the fittings you are trying to group edit is missing the desired connector type. You can easily add or remove connector types using the content bulder.

You can also remove flanges from duct parts without changing their connector types using the properties palette. Near insulation thickness, there is a flange extension property. (Only if the connector type is flanged and flage display is turned on.) Change it to 0", then use the command objrelupdate on your parts to update their graphics.
