Default Project Relocation / Shared Coordinates

I am trying to relocate our structural model to line up with the linked in architectural model in Revit Structure 2010. When I select "Relocate Project", the model doesn't react or moves an asinine distance and I have to scroll around and find it. either way, the levels are still at the same height.

I have done this several times before. I know I have to find a pull down menu somewhere and change the coordinates from "project" to "shared coordinates" but I don't remember where the menu is. can anyone shine some light on the location of this?

UPDATE: I finally found the menu. you have to select a level in an elevation view, edit type and then pull down to select shared coordinates. unfortunately, now the entire project disappears when i try to relocate, no matter what the distance is. any insight would be appreciated. thanks!
