    Default Civil 09 Installation Errors

    Hello to all!

I've lurked for some time on AUGI, but this is my first actual post. I hope someone out there has encountered this problem before, since the Autodesk knowledge base had nothing. I'm attempting to install Civil 09 on a Windows XP Professional SP3 machine that meets or exceeds all necessary system requirements. All of the supplemental programs that come on the disc (Design Review, DWG Trueview, Vault, etc.) install fine with no problems. As soon as I select AutoCAD Civil 09 to install I get the following error:

"Error 1324. The folder Path 'AutoCAD Civil Projects' contains an invalid character."

After hitting OK to close that window, I get a series of other error messages one right after the other:

"Fatal error during installation. #156. Failed to run AdskExecuteSequence!"
    ":failed to get database handle."
"failed to initialize AutoCAD Civil 09."
    "Recursion too deep, stack overflowed."

Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Looks like time to contact your reseller or Autodesk support.

Try installing it on a different computer. If you get the same message, my first thought would be bad media.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

This disc has been used to install the software on 3 different workstations previously and everything was fine.

Couple questions, are you installing directly from the disc or from a deployment of from files copied from the disc? Does this happen during the install or while the install dialog box is still being filled in? Is your system 32 bit or 64 bit? What's different between your computer and the ones it installed correctly on (there must be something different even if you don't know what it is).

Doing an online search, I found this discussion:

Someone received the same error you did because he was trying to install to something other then the C: drive. He had a media reader that was looking to the C: drive and all of his other programs were installed to someplace else. He was able to get the install to work by putting something in the C: drive so the computer could see it even if it was installing to is.

Thanks Brian! I believe that is exactly my problem. I had a feeling from the beginning that it was, but I wasn't for sure....especially since all of the other programs on the disc installed fine. When I set this computer up initially, I rushed it and installed all of my removable media drives before loading Windows. This assigned my USB Hub as C:, my top DVD drive as D:, and the bottom one as E:, and created my main partition on the hard drive as F:. I'll try the suggestions from the other forum and see if it works.

    Thanks again. AUGI is awesome!
