Default Autocad MEP 2010 Electrical Symbols

We are currently using Autocad MEP 2010, and are now in process of creating our Company Standard symbols library.

However, one of the problems we have is when it comes to placing multiple wall mounted socket outlets, Data points etc adjacent each other, in the model view it all looks fine, when you look at plan view, the 2D symbols all overlap each other and just looks a mess.

Has anyone ever had this problem or better still overcome it ??

Your replies are very much appriciated

    Ian,

That's a normal problem when attempting to reconcile the reality of the model vs. the schematic nature of the plan symbols.

Unhappily, you are pretty limited in your options.

    1. Use annotation scaling to your favor, e.g. create larger scale viewports where the plan symbols are too congested.
    2. Create a combo plan symbol that keeps the plan representations further apart than the actual model representations.
    3. Create plan symbols that are narrower.
    4. Create alternate plan symbols that are offset from the wall to allow "stacking" of plan symbols away from the wall.
