Attaching beams to model by face roofs - limitations?

Hi all

Just testing the limitations of working structurally with roofs created using mass and the Model by Face method.

I want to attach a steel beam to the roof.

I believe that I can attach a beam using the pick line tool for the edges of a roof to match the profie of a roof, but not internally like you can an extruded roof.

Are there any known work arounds to this? Can I have a beam system that attachs to the underside of a roof that has been formed by creating a mass and then a roof using the model by face tool? For a reason for why we may do this, consider the profile of a bowl stadium and the structure that supports the cantilevering roof.

Any help, greatly appreciated.

Yes, it would be very helpful to be able to attach beams to roofs, similar to attaching walls to roofs. Anyone know how to do this?

What I have been doing is a work-around. I edit the beam work plane and select the bottom of a roof slab. To get this to work the roof slab and the beam need to first be on the same reference level and elevation. Then select the beam, edit work plane, select the bottom of the roof slab. Now you can slope the roof slab or change elevation and the beams will follow. I think this works for beam systems too.
