    Default void from in-place wall

I have created a wall from a sweep. I now would like to create openings in this for a wall with a window. I thought I would simply create a void and subtract it from the wall, but the void won't cut it. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.

Void to cut the wall must be a part of the in-place family. Edit the in-place wall, add the void, cut geometry, finish family.

Don't try to cut the in-place family with another in-place void......
