Default Installing analytical line into a in-place framing family?

This kind of goes along with the "Attaching beams to model by face roofs - limitations?" that I posted.

If I create a framing beam using a Model-In Place method (in order to place on a roof sloping in 2 directions), then one of the limitations that I come up against is the lack of a analytical line in the finished in place family.

Of course this means that when I take my project out to anyalisis then it won't see that beam.

Is it possible to install an analytical line into the family? The family was created using a Swept Blend, so maybe we can use the path line somehow?

    Using Revit Structure 2010

    Many thanks for any help.

Thumbs up Re: Installing analytical line into a in-place framing family?

Yes, you should be able to add the analytical line while defining the in-place beam element. It will be a Analytical Model [Projection Line]. Create the solid shape, then before selecting to Finish Model (Green Check Box), choose the Model line Button from the In-Place Modeling Panel. Then use the Analytical Model [Project Line] Type to draw in your analytical line.
Then Finish Model....Hope this helps you out!

Default Re: Installing analytical line into a in-place framing family?

Brill, just done that and its worked a treat.

Only limitation I can see is that I haven't got the Structural parameters in the Instance properties of the In-place beam.

Do you know, or does anybody know if there is a way of putting in the Structural Analysis parameters, ie Analyse As and also the Structural parmaters like "Structural Usage"?

Can those be inherited in some way?

    Many thanks.
