3D ORBIT TARGET

Often when I am working on a large piece of equipment I need to orbit the view around a small feature to edit from a different side but the 3dorbit command will autotarget a point in space about 3.1 parsec distant and suddenly i see nothing but cold space...

Is there a way for select the target point for 3d orbit?

You are the man! .. This is so much more user friendly I wonder why ACAD doesn't ship with this as the default 3d navigation button ??
