Default What will happen to Cad drawings with BIM

I have had a couple manufacturers ask what will happen to their Cad drawings with the requirement of BIM data now? Just wondering what your feed back would be.

My guess is that they would need to change from a 2d cad drawing to a model of the product in question. Sounds like more work to me.

Really no different from the software libraries of every company that moves to BIM... either they convert their content to BIM or risk getting their data replaced or no longer utilized.
