    Question AutoCAD opening files in command line, not dialogue box

    Does anyone know why AutoCAD would suddenly switch from giving a dialogue box when using File -> Open to asking for the filename/location only in the command line? One of my users said a couple of days ago his AutoCAD 2009 wouldn't give him the dialogue box anymore. I even upgraded him to the 2010 Revit suite but his 2009 settings must have migrated over.

    I don't see anywhere in the Options -> Open/Save tab to bring back the dialogue box and I'm not sure where else to look.

    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Hi emlyn,

    Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AUGI Board Discussions forum to this one as I feel it will be better served here.

    As to your question;

    My guess is your user used a macro or script that turned the dialog box off. Try typing FILEDIA and changing the value to 1.

    Hope this helps,

    I havn't found a reason behind why the filedia values changes, but our users that have the most problems with it do not run macros. Anyway, I have included it in our setup lisp so that whenever it happens they just need to run the setup.
