Exclamation AutoCAD 2010 Fatal Error Saving Workspaces

I have confirmed a fatal error in AutoCAD 2010 when attempting to save workspaces in the following conditions:
    • You are using an enterprise CUIx file.
    • The enterprise CUIx is located in a read-only network folder.

There is no fix with the latest AutoCAD update as of Dec 2009.

However, a temporary kludge is to make the network folder read-write for the users and the CUIx files read-only. (Thanks to Bud at Autodesk for this.)

This is obviously not a great solution but at least it stops AutoCAD from dying an ugly death. Obviously you will want to keep an original copy of the CUIx file(s) in a separate location in case you need to restore the enterprise CUIx file(s).

    Robert,

Wish I would have found this earlier. It has been driving me crazy.

Now in this instance would the partial CUIX files attached to the enterprise CUIX need to be read only as well or just the main enterprise file. I am testing it now, but if you have had experience then I thought I would ask.

Russell, the crucial thing is that the folder cannot have RO permissions. If the partials are located in a separate folder that has RO permissions, I do not know what will happen. I have our non-OOTB partials located in the same network folder as the enterprise CUIx. The OOTB CUIx files are located in the default installation Support folder on the local drive.
