pick point hatch

(AC2010) new user general description: I want to place independent hatches in closed areas by point/click, point/click, etc. Is there a way to do this? Maybe I am missing a "multiple" command? I got close once, but when I selected one point/click hatch, AC selected them all. In other words, they were not independent. New user here, so do not assume I know anything when you reply. Thanks!

In the Hatch dialogue, under "Options", there is a check box labelled "create separate hatches".
