Hello,
We are trying to migrate to AutoCAD Electrical and I am trying to set up our title blocks and templates and figure out how to organize our drawings. I have been reading about Autodesk Vault, Sheet Sets and in Electrical you can create a project with drawings in it.
I have been able to read up on each individual topic (Vault, sheet sets, electrical projects) but have not found any information on how, if they can, work together. Is there a tutorial or some information out there on managing drawings using Vault, sheet sets and electrical projects together. Are sheet sets even that useful for electrical drawings?
Previously we used custom software to store and read back data from a database to update and keep track of title block field data. We could automatically then from a spread sheet of drawing names and descriptions automatically generate the files and fill in the title block information (updates through lisp/vb on drawing open). We could also create drawing indexes and keep track of drawing versions from the information in the database. We have been doing it this way since the last time our CAD has been updated was in 2002.
So I would like to move to 2010 Electrical and only use Vault and Electrical to manage projects. How would we be able to create drawing indexes using these pieces of software? Does Vault manage that?
I am having trouble understanding how exactly things link together, and how to handle title block information.
