Default Face based family on curved face

Hi I'm working in Revit MEP 2010 with a linked architectural model. Last time I updated the model I had multiple errors telling me that some of the instances were not able to be placed, and that I would need to delete them to continue. After looking at the old model, I realized that all of the instances were receptacles on curved walls, that the Architect had deleted and modeled straight in the update. Other straight walls had been deleted also, but all of the receptacles on those walls were still in the model (hanging out in space). This is what I would expect to happen with a face based family whose host was deleted. Anybody know why this doesn't work with curved faces?

After testing, the face based family won't be deleted with the host.
The floor, wall, roof based family will.

I am not sure of this, feel free to correct me if wrong.

Did you use a curved face during your test? Seems to work fine even on angled walls, but not on curved surfaces. I just tried it without the linked model and it behaved the same. I drew a curved wall, made a new face based family (just to be sure), placed it on the curved wall, and then deleted the wall. The family was deleted also.

Can you confirm that you used a curved surface and that the face based family was not deleted?

If so, does anyone have suggestions on why this is not working for me? Thanks
