Default Creating a Sail Shape in the Conceptual Mass tool

I'm having difficulty making a smooth sail form. Revit keeps triangulating the pieces. Please see attached and let me know if you know how to make it smooth.

Cool Re: Creating a Sail Shape in the Conceptual Mass tool

    Scott,

    I suspect that the shape is a NURBS ( Non-uniform Rational B-Spline )
complex curve and Revit can not create it without triangulation. ( nor can 3dsMax,
    as I understand it. )

I think Maya can handle this NURBS surface, and perhaps Rhino.

If you render it, do you still see any triangulation? Or is it just that in un-rendered
views you do not want to see the lines of the triangulation?

    cheers...

I don't need it rendered at this point. I suspect there would be a slight edge but not too bad.

I just did a test render on a sample one and it does show the edge. I have done this kind of shape with a series of parallel splines and then lofted them. Using a spline along the 3 edges will result in the triangulation you are seeing. Depending on how differnt the "z" values of the corners of the sail are these edges may be more pronounced. If the difference is not great then the rendered version might be acceptable.
