Default Wiring - Tick Marks Randomly Not Appearing

We are working in Revit MEP 2010 and have the latest web update installed.

we are finding that with wiring, certain tick marks are not appearing on wire placed by the system or wire that is manually inserted. It seems to happen the most with Wiring on Ceiling Plans with Lighting fixtures.

We have found different methods to make the wiring show up. Like pulling the wire off the fixture, allowing it show the tick marks and homerun, then connecting back to the original fixture.

It is more annoying than anything else, and it takes extra time for the user to pull the wire off and put it back on. I will try to get some screen captures soon.

Has anyone ran into this with wiring?

Exclamation Re: Wiring - Tick Marks Randomly Not Appearing

So I am finding that the wiring is not showing tick marks or homeruns because the wiring is not recognizing the circuit.

Attached are a few screen shots of what is going on.

You can see that the tick marks are showing up on some and not on others. Now these are manually placed. But the same thing happens when you let Revit place the wiring for you. see attachment revit placed wires.

From here it gets really weird. all the wiring has to be fixed because the project is going out. you have to perform a series of trial and error steps to get things to show up correctly. following are some of these steps.

-Pull off all wires create a home run and then reconnect the removed wires
-Delete fixture and place a new one this is done 9 times out of 10
-Re-power the new fixture and try to replace the wires to show tick marks
-Delete a wire from one fixture and tick marks show from on another errored wire.

this takes a lot of time to do. With people testing it out, some think that it has to do with the location of the connector on the device. if revit does not see it properly in the ceiling plan view, then it wont connect fully. it will just half connect, trim the wire back, then bail on the rest of the command.

is anyone out there experiencing what is shown? anybody have a fix, aside from not showing tick marks.

Are you making sure when you connect the wiring between fixtures, that you are connecting to the actual electrical connector (snap is shown as a circle with crosshairs)? If not, then the tick marks are not going to show up.

We did find one problem with this. The same view that had the wiring was duplicated with Detailing, thus duplicating the wires. The wiring was seeing wires in both views and this somehow created confusion in the system. When the wiring from the other view was deleted, it mostly fixed the problem with wiring not showing up.

There are still instances where the wiring on lighting fixtures does not show up however. Sometimes if you create the home-run first, then connect the home run to the fixture the wiring will stay.

If you can provide any screen shots and processes involved that may help.

    We figured it out..!
go to Manage and then go to MEP Settings,
then Electrical settings and click the Wiring tab on left
and options will appear on right side window .go to your hot, nuetral, and ground
and type the letter M and see what happens.......you should have a choice of either short or long ticks.....now the only things is my arrow for the leader is nowhere to be found...hummm!?.......anybody????

Oh, didn't realize that you hadn't set up your tick marks already. As far as setting the arrow, what you see is what you get (that thin sliver of an arrow).
