Maximum Number of Objects?

Just switched over to 2010. When we get a drawing from an architect, our standard setup is to set all objects to bylayer so we can control the colors easier. When I hit ctrl-A, it selects all the objects, and when there's over 2500 objects in the set, it says that all objects are
already bylayer (when I know they're not). When I delete objects down to exactly 2500, it work fine. Any new mystery settings I'm not aware of?

Okay, so it's a ribbon thing. When I open a toolbar it works like I expected. Can the ribbon only control a certain number of objects? Never used the ribbon before (for AutoCAD, in Revit it works much better) and this isn't convincing me much.

are you using the setbylayer command or manually setting their properties to bylayer? If the latter, try the former, I think you'll be impressed.

Wow, and that also solves my "colors-locked-in-block" issue, too. Been doing this for 15 years, I should read a new commands list once in a while...
