Default "Unable to Initialize 3D Object Model"

After a new, clean install of C3D 2010, we're getting this error message when trying to run Alignment reports from the toolbox. Any suggestions? thanks.

PS - It's running on a Windows 7 OS in 32x compatability mode with 8GB ram and 512MB video.

Make sure to install SP2, not sure if it will help with this, but it may.

I'm trying to track a similar problem to this...

Do you by chance have any 64-bit Autodesk products installed on the same machine?

I'm resurrecting this one back. I'm experiencing the same issue. I'm on W7 SP1 64-bit. I have 10, 11, and 12 installed. Whenever I try to run any of the .net reports in 2010 I get this message.

This appears to be a problem created because both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Autocad use the same entries in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC). If you install both 32-bit and 64-bit Autocad products from the same year on the same machine, the GAC will only be able to point to one of them. Upshot is you can only use .NET in either 32-bit or 64-bit, but not both on the same machine for the same year products.

If you aren't familiar with the GAC, you should be able to open a support request with Autodesk, and they should be able to tell you how to change the GAC to point to the 32-bit version of Acad.exe, which is what needs to happen in order to run .NET reports in C3D 2010.

This is no longer an issue in 2011 and later, since there is now a 64-bit version of C3D, and the installers will no longer let you install the 32-bit versions on a 64-bit OS.
