    Default Sewer Line through Foundation?

I am a fairly new user of RS and I am using RS 2010.

The project I am working on has a 4" dia. sewer line running through the foundation. I know a couple of invert elevations and I know that the line must slope a minimum of 1% as not to violate the number one rule in plumbing. Of course, it's not a straight line.

I'm pretty sure I need to use a sweep to accomplish my goal. The question is how do I create the path so that it slopes correctly? I know how to do this in AutoCAD, but I don't have an X,Y,Z coordinate system in RS (I'm not complaining, just sayin').

So far, I've been able to get a sweep, but it is level.

    What should I do?

    Thank you,

    Bill

    Hi,
When I need to show sewer or SW I use a CHS framing family - slightly modified. I have moved it so the center line of the family is running at the IL of the pipe.

    Cheers,
    J

    Use a sloping work plane.

This sounds great, but the 1% slope is along the pipe. Imagine the pipe turning 90 degrees, running 50 feet, turning 90 degrees, running 150 feet...

I hope I don't sound stupid, but I have no idea what a SW, CHS or an IL are.
    =8^O

But, I do know that my challenge is fining the path in 3D. I can do it in 2D, but I have no idea how to set the depth at each bend.

Thanks. You can tell I'm structural, not civil.

As Structural Engineers in the UK we often take resposibility for the design of the drainage for FW (Foul Water) and SW (Surface Water) systems.

I've been using the CHS with the Centre line at invert and have created some simple manholes and inspection chambers, I would love to see some 3D drainage items added to the families shipped with RST

With the MEP package doing air flow above ground how hard could it be to give us Drainage tools below ground?
