Default What's it gonna take? (acad 2004)

Running system with p-4, 2.8 ghz and 1 gig ram. ATI 64 mb video card. We are now working with files that have several x-refs totalling 36 mb. Lots of TT fonts and heavy use of raster images converted to blocks. It now takes several minutes to open each layout in the drawing. Unacceptable. Can the experts recommend hardware that will make life "instant"? What do the movie folks use?

    Sincerely,

    Frustrated

For ultimate performance you sould check out monach computers and alienware. You could get multiple processors and loads of RAM, that should speed things up.
