Any successful implementations from Vanilla AutoCAD to Revit?

We are a small company and are losing jobs because we can't provide a revit model. I have been asked to provide a cost analisys for 1. Buying the software 2. Training for the software 3. the most important, Implementation of the software and 4. Continued support.

I have been a fan of Paul Aubin and sent them a request for these services, as well as our local Avatech facility. Still waiting to here back from both of them. I like the Revit Architecture Suite approach because we have allot of legacy AutoCAD files we would like to keep.

Are there any succcess stories out there ?

Our company was using plain jane ACAD up until a few years ago. Then we saw the potential for Revit and bought in to the idea. Luckily, young people in the firm caught on quick and now most of our projects are done in Revit. I've heard horror stories but we didn't experience any of that. It has been mostly painless for us. We still have a couple designers/drafters that still bang away at the keyboard in ACAD, but that is to be expected. Some clients still demand production in ACAD, so its OK.

Your success will heavily rely on the enthusiasm of a few key employees. I tought myself, coupled with reference to this forum, but a less motivated person can have ££££'s of training thrown at them and they still won't truly reap the benefits of Revit. Get your geekiest CAD techs to translate an existing project into Revit on the 30-day trial and that should give you the sort of hands-on knowledge that will really swing your decision.
