No , as far as I know, you can't .... B U T ...
1. Create a new workset and uncheck the (visible in all viuews by default).
2. Now, go to a 3D view and turn on evrything but turn off all worksets except for your problem one.
3. Select everything viosible (make editable if you have to) and change thes to your new workst.
4. Turn on this new workset only where you want it on.
It might be good that you turn this switch off in the future when you make another new workset.
You can use view templates to do what you require, you just need to create a filter that looks for model elements that you want to turn off (or just check everything) and then select the workset you want.
Then just make a filter for each workset
Too bad you can't do that for Annotation Categories.
Anyone had success overriding graphics through a workset filter?
We were looking into this yesterday to colour code our worksets for visual clarity. The idea was to change the cut pattern and colour of all items on workset to something unique... Any ideas?
Just to re-qualify what we are trying to do...
We want to overide the graphics of a linked file which is on a workset. Rather than changing the custom overrides in the in the linked view settings we were trying to override the link by workset using a filter.
In looking further at this I can see the options to override the linked file graphics by element and by filter are 'greyed out'.
Revit allows us to create the filter and change the graphic settings, but when applied, nothing happens...
Any ideas? Is there a work around?
What version are you in? In 2010, Filters dont populate down in to Linked Files. They can in 2011.
We are in 2010 now, but are moving into 2011 in a couple of weeks...
I did check that though and I think I was looking at something different... Here's my process:
Select link --> Right click - Override graphics in view --> Filter... Filter is greyed out.
Arron are you saying within the linked file visibility graphics there is now a tab for filters? I have not looked at that yet.
No. Im saying if you have a Filter in the VG of YOUR view, in 2011 it can also filter through the objects in the Linked File. It cant do that in 2010, so you WOULD have to set up a filter in the linked file and configure a By Linked View to get the same effect.
You still cant select by workset and override graphics, i dont believe. I havent tried though, since i dont personally believe Worksets are for Visibility Control.
ok ok, I see what your saying now...
And yes I agree with you not to rely on worksets for visibilty control... There's a whole host of issues associated with that - namely issues with elements disapearing because a workset is turned off or unloaded - takes some getting used to : )
