Question 2003 Wish List Results at AU

At the AUGI meeting at AU the new wish list was formally presented to Autodesk. At the same time there was a slide shown that indicated which wishes from last year have been incorporated. Number one on that list was "File Tabs".

I assume that means tabs showing all open drawings a la DocBar. I have been using 2005 for a couple of months now and I have not seen any such thing. Am I missing something? Is anyone else scratching their head about this?

    Hi

I believe Autodesk were referring to their pitiful interpretation on this much needed and requested feature -

Autodesk's offering - system variable TASKBAR

That must be it. You're right, it is pretty weak. I guess I'll stick with DocBar for now. Thanks for the reply.

I use both now that I've gotten into the win xp alt-tab thing (I like the docbar previews and being able to put it up at the top of my drawing area...), can be helpful if you only have a couple of drawings open.

AUGI's Top Ten Wish List 2004

#10 Dimension Extension Line Linetypes (by Timothy Chapman)
We need a way to apply a linetype to dimension's extension lines, for example: changing the linetype of one of the extension lines to "Center" for dimensioning to circular openings.

#9 Table Improvements (by Benjamin Weir)
Enhance the table object in these ways:
    - Combine mtext with blocks in cells
    - Add multiple blocks to cells
    - Row and column addressing (e.g. Al, B1) and calculation functions
    - More options for table styles, such as row and column formats for data
    - Add headings on left or right (not just top)
    - STB support

#8 Option to overwrite while using Design Center (by Brenda Richardson)
Give us the option when using the Design Center to insert dimstyles, text styles, layers, etc, into a drawing to overwrite the current definition.

#7 System Variable for PEdit's Multiple option (by Nathan Taylor)
Add a system variable similar to PEditAccept to default the PEdit command to the Multiple option.

#6 Command Line Calculations (By Matt Bellenoit)
Simplify the 'cal function on the command line... it would be nice to just type 2+2 to get 4.

#5 Import function for Tables (by Glenn Pope)
It would be nice to import comma delimited files using the table command.

#4 Express Tools Install (by Brenda Richardson)
Wouldn't it be nice if the Express Tools would install as part of a typical AutoCAD install? There are many IT people installing AutoCAD that don't know about the Express Tools, therefore users are not getting them.

#3 Tool Palettes/Groups that are network friendly (by Brian Payne)
Tool pallet groups need to be removed from the 'local profile and combined with the AutoCAD tool catalog so that it is easier to manage from a single network location. Any personal groups could then be added to the local profile's .atc file for individual customizations just as tool palettes are currently designed.

#2 Drop-down Palettes (by Glenn Pope)
I would like to be able to dock palettes to the top or bottom of the screen. Then if you have them auto-hide, and hover over the palette's bar, the palette would drop down like a menu.

#1 Publish Improvements (by Ray Gorman)
Publish should recognize when you have multiple drawings open. I would like Publish to list your currently open drawings (all of them) when it is invoked. It's easier to subtract those that you may not want than it is to add drawings already open, especially if they are spread over many different directories.

Thanks Glen. Were other wish lists presented from the other forums?

They showed the #1 wishlist item for all the other versions. I don't have a list of those. They weren't printed in the AUGI bulletins.
