Unhappy Error Message - Can't create this kind of element in this view in the current mode.

Hi, I am fairly new to Revit. However, when i'm trying to pull in a steel beam family from the project browser [in my main project model], I keep getting the error in the subject line above.

Has anyone else seen this error and know what it is telling me?
Do I need to switch a "mode" somewhere that I am not aware of?
I am currently using Revit MEP 2010, all the other families are loading in without any errors.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards

I think that Revit MEP doesn't like it when you try and insert structural elements. I know I've had to change a structural truss from it's native category to "Generic Model" to be able to use it.

Thanks for your speedy reply, please could you clarify how i can change it from it's current category to "Generic Model" or have you tried it already to see if it loads/visable.

Sure, just open the family in Revit, and click on "Category and Parameters", and change it to something other than Structural, then re-save the family
