    Default Refedit cancels

I am working on a drawing that has several x-refs inserted into it. I am trying to edit in-place. The 'Reference Edit' dialogue box pops up. When I hit OK, the command line reads:

    Command: _refedit
    *Cancel*

Any thoughts to what might cause this?

I would not recommend using refedit on XREFs. If your drawings have different UCS settings, the current drawing's UCS could have negative affects on the XREF drawing objects.

Of course, this does not answer your problem. Did you select the objects in the XREF that you wanted to modify?

I'm trying to edit the entire x-ref so that I can relocate room names etc.

Use the XOpen command. Your right-click menu should have an option to Open XRef.

XOpen works great; however, I need InPlace editing since I am refrencing geometry in the current drawing.

    Additional Info:
I tried binding the offending Xref and I received this error.

Error: At least one of the specified xrefs failed to bind for an unknown reason.

I detached and inserted as a block. This seems to work with In-Place editing and is my work around for now...although not ideal.

You could open the reference file, and reference in the current drawing as an overly.

That is how I typically handle any edits within XREFs. You need to make sure you are referencing your drawings with the Overlay option and not Attachment.
