Default attribute extraction for length width & thickness of parts

    Hi,
I am new to this forum and would love some help.
I am trying to extract parts from my drawing to a spreadsheet
The information i want is the part name, quantity, length, width and thickness.
I have run the 'dataextraction' wizard and cannot work out how to get what i need
If i turn the parts into blocks i am able to get x y z values but they result in zero?
How can i get the desired numeric values?
Also the parts will need to be stored as blocks as an assembly and used and stretched as desired.
    Is this possible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Welcome to AUGI & congrats on your 1st post.

Could you give some more info about how these "parts" are drawn? You mention an assembly ... does that mean there's several part-blocks nested into an assembly-block? Are these blocks dynamic? And which version of ACad are you using?

Maybe the best way would be to attach a sample drawing to this thread.

For the part name you would have to open up block editor and add an attribute to the block. For width, length, and thickness I think you can get that from the property manager. There you should find the width, length, and thickness. If not you would have to create an attribute for all three conditions and enter your own values. This is just too much work and try to avoid.

Also try checking all the options on data extraction so that you can see what kind of data it is extracting from the block to your schedule. This will give you a feel for what data it is extracting. Then you can go back and uncheck options for data that you don't want to show up. Hope this helps.

I am using autocad 2010, in reference to the assembly i did mean several blocks nested together to create one block.

I have attached a sample of what i want extracted, this includes four parts nested into a block, i want to extract the length width and thickness from each individual part within this block.

    Is this possible?
