Welded Connection Problem

Hi All

I was near completion of a medium size warehouse and all of a sudden i was unable to weld plates/profiles to existing assemblies. The weld symbol is visible in the model, however when i attempted to select the whole assembly the new welded part was not recognized.

To fix the problem i attempted to copy the whole model into a new file however this was unsuccessful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I can think that would do this is if you turn off automatic assembly creation, although I doubt you would have done this mid project, or by accident, as it's on by default.

Was this after you created any documents?....the reason i ask this is that it seems to become unstable/buggy as soon as you document anything.

The automatic assembly creation box was turned off, which was not done by myself. However turning it back on has fixed the problem.
Documents had been created from groups and they have not seemed to be affected.

On another matter, just out of curiosity i have been creating grid elevations by firstly creating a group and attaching a document (either front, top, left, right, back) and then adding as a block to a print out. This seems to be the best way, as schemes don't seem to show holes and/or bolts which makes it impossible to show hole locations on an elevated wall.

I have attempted to create a group of the whole model and attach a top view document and then cut sections through various parts of the building, however the sections are created on their side and I then have to rotate each one individually.

Do you use schemes for elevations, or create groups as mentioned above?
The program in my experience seems to be long winded for creating elevations/sections. Have you found this to be a correct assumption?

I've never managed to get a "scheme" to work properly, so yes, I do groups.

I orient my building so 0z elevation is F.F.L., and then use global elevation marks for locating members.

I've also had problems in grouping the entire model, and do this for my 3d view only, and create smaller groups to show grids or different floor levels, as this seems the least painful option, but at least you can get a decent result.

And yes, I find the system for creating these view types very long winded....if I have the engineering drawings in Revit, I am tempted to give the revit model the mark number and do the erection drawings there. Of course I can't guarantee the levels that way, so can only do it for things where the level isn't required like a shed.
