    Default Cased Opening

Let me say in advance that I am not that savvy, YET, with families. I just haven't had time to get into the guts of how they work. That said, I have downloaded arched and flat openings (as components) WITH OUT casing. When I insert them they show casing. I have opened them to edit the family and delete the casing, but it doesn't exist in the file. nothing suggests there is casing in the openings except the casing that shows in the plan when they are inserted. This is very frustrating. any thoughts?

Are you sure you have erased everything? There might be some symbolic lines in a view that you have not erased that are showing up when you insert the family into your project. Most of the families that come with Revit have some type of symbolic lines drawn over 3d objects to control visibility and line weights or patterns. Maybe you missed one, if not post the files to have a look at.....

In addition to Miguel's sage advice, keep in mind you'll have to check the three detail level options since objects can be assigned to any one or more of them.

    Thumbs up Re: Cased Opening

It was the detail level. There was casing drawing on the Medium level that I wasn't seeing under the course setting. All is good now. Thanks for your help, I have many more questions to come, this is a great site.
