Default Shortcut to Keyboard Shortcuts Fails (2010 SU1)

    Here's a stumper:

We loaded a machine in 2010, upgraded to Subscription Update 1. And, now it just stops when we use the Keynotes button from the View > User Interface command as well as from R > Options > Keyboard Shortcuts.

The TXT file is in place under Program, and is editable, we can open it and view it and manage it the old way by editing in Notepad. However, the shortcuts in the program are the problem, the interface will not launch.

In the Journal file, we can see the program call the function. Same as on a functioning machine, however, nothing happens. We can ESC out of the command and Revit is fine, continues operating normally. It just hangs up on this one function.

Has anyone else ever seen this before? Help?

    Thank you!

    Best,
    LC

Could you be running into the situation where the dialog is displaying off screen? Try using Alt+Space when the dialog should be displayed and if a context menu appears, hit M and then use the arrow keys to move the dialog back on screen.

Unfortunately, we tried that, too. This is a laptop, not connected to dual screens or a second monitor. There is no response when tabbing between windows. Thank you, though for the ideas.

I believe the SU1 update started using a User-specific xml file instead of the TXT file in Revit\Program. Don't remember the exact name off the top of my head, but there are several threads about it here.

Too true, it is an XML after SU1. So, hunting that down, it is in place where it belongs and appears fine, but the date is wrong (as in out of sync with when we upgraded his machine).

For Windows XP Pro 64bit, it's under a different user-specific path than the Help file indicates:

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010

    KeyboardShortcuts.xml

So, thinking it was a file issue with the XML, we took a working XML file off another machine.

However, it's still not functioning on this machine. And, it isn't the XML file that is the culprit here, if you think about the functionality of the Keyboard Shortcut menu within the UI after the SU1 upgrade.

    Getting warmer...sort of.
