    Default Website Help

I know this is off topic, but I can't find anything else about it and thought someone here could help me. I'm trying to add a custom MIME type to my server to be able to link to DWF's, I was directed here...

    http://www.besthostratings.com/artic...-htaccess.html

Following that link in there is a even a link to using it with DWF's...

    http://www.iana.org/assignments/medi.../model/vnd-dwf

does anyone know how I can get this working? Thank you very much.

See if this thread on a web host's forum helps.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

From my understanding, the .htaccess is not on a windows based server. The first link from the OP was regarding .htaccess.

Yes, but he may not know that. That's why I asked what server he was using. For all I know, he is using a web host and has no access to a server and is out of luck.

A lot of web hosts allow you to edit your .htaccess file. Most that I have dealt with have anyway.

With a windows based server, you might try this knowledge base article.

I use NetFirms, it's running Apache, on windows I'm guessing. I had asked several times about custom MIME types and the response was no. Finally one guy from their support sent me this...

You can add custom mime types using an .htaccess file: http://www.besthostratings.com/artic...-htaccess.html

That's where I'm at. I assume since that was his response I can get it to work on their server. I'll go through all your links and see what I find. Thank you.

Searching the on the first link for dwf should show you what you need to add to your .htaccess file.
