    Default file transfer

    can i have ETABs or Sap File and transfer to robot files to run?

    i want to add another thing with this question. in robot millennium we could open the file from staad pro but now when i try nothings get inputed!!

    Yes you can, Angel, if you export the file in Etabs as .s2k and then import it into Robot.

    The way I always import it, is by first opening the .s2k file and saving it as a .str file
    Then you need to do some corrections, because Robot always makes the same mistakes here. You need to add "NAMe " before every line with a material definition (refer to Help file for the correct syntax, there's a file somewhere with all commands u can use)

    When you've corrected the .str file corrrectly, you can import it into a proper Robot model by choosing Geometry/Structure/Insert From File.

    Both imports from Etabs and Staad are based on translation of text input files (.STD and .S2K) to Robot text input file .STR.
    The file can be opended with the standard File/Open functionality chosing STR format. Resultant input file often gives error. There must be predefined materials and sections of the same name as used in the other program. The input file can be simply edited as a text file, and with some knowledge of the syntax it usually works.
