    Default "Remote" text

Not sure if this is possible, but can I create a text field that will referance another text entity in a drawing? For example, I would like to set a part of the mtext in a match line to reference another sheet number (on a seperate sheet), but in the same drawing. I know, the sheet manager can do some of this, but we're not currently using that, just the sheet set manager.

    Anyway, any thoughts???

    Yes.
Create a FIELD, use Object, select the text object, then use the "Contents" property for the field.

Sorry, I should've been a little more specific...I need this to cross over to other layouts.

    Thanks!

If you are using the SSM, then you can create a custom property for any sheet and then reference that property in a field anywhere.

As you noted the sheet set manager can do this. Not only can it do it, it is very good at doing it. I would recommend using the SSM.

I too would recommend the sheet set manager. In my opinion, it's the best thing that came out of AutoCAD 2005... Yes, it's been around that long.

And unfortunately, it hasn't changed since then, either. For example, we STILL have no automated support for page numbering built-in to the product (although there are third-party routines for this). And even though I think it was part of the original design, we still cannot include a single layout in multiple Sheet Sets (which would be really handy for standard details).

I agree completely, but even so it's still probably the best feature ever added...
There is just so much more it could do...
(We wrote our own renumbering routine way back when it first came out, could not make do without that...)

Not defending why it is this way, just trying to explain to those that don't know why it is.

The fields reference "CurrentSheet" yadda yadda so, unless they get rid of that field, a sheet can only be in one set.
