New to cad customization

Here it goes...

I'm a fairly experienced CAD user(11 yrs) and was just brought in(tuesday 3/25) to a small mep consulting firm to help draft as well as take over CAD standards and customization. The current IT manager will be leaving in about 3 months so I've been told I will be taking over that role as well even though the major IT duties are outsourced. I've never really been trained/versed with customization so even thoguh I'm green to that side of CAD, I'm ready to learn it and master it as well. Currently we're using cad 2007 as well as cad 2010 LT, but we're in the process of switching to cad 2010. Once we switch to cad 2010 I'd like to be able to take it and run with it. Can anyone point me to a resource/class that I may be able to use/attend? Thank you for any and all help.

What type of customization are you talking about?
Deployments, standardization?
Custom menus, scripts, etc?
Small to medium routines written in lisp?
Full blown applications in .NET or ARX?

my apologies, i shouldve been a little more thorough. the company i work for doesn't have any standards at all which is where i come in. more than likely it'll be custom menus/toolbars(cui customization), lisp routines(any size) and macros. the current IT person is taking care of the deployment and upgrading and i don't see us using anything w/.net, arx or vba.
