Default Piping Line Type to indicated level/offset

    Hello,

in AutoCAD 2D we always used different line types to indicate the level in with the pipes runs, e.g. solid when near floor level, dashed when below floor level, dash-dot-dash when visible on high level.

Although the pipes are drawn on the right level/offset in Revit, from a floor plan drawing it is then hard to identify, where the pipe runs. The contractors typically don't want the 3D model, only 2D plans.

Is there a way to show the pipes in the different line styles dependent of the level they run? If I set the bottom view range to e.g. 0.0 and the view depth to e.g. -500, the pipe appears thinner. Is it possible to change this so that the pipe appears also dashed?

How is this done is other practices? Do you provide notes with the level?

    Regards

    Volker

When your pipe runs between the bottom and the view depth, Revit will automatically use the linestyle Beyond; this is why your pipes appear thinner. If you want it to appear with a dash pattern, simply go in Settings\Linestyle and edit the <Beyond> linestyle.

As for the pipes visible on a high level, I would recommend using filters.

To expand on what Maxime said, you can create a filter for pipes greater or less than a specified invert elevation.
