Default fbx export producing large number of IES files

    Hi,

Need to do some renderings exterior and interior w light fixtures. As there are close to 3000 lightfixtures in the model (the consultants model, to be correct), I see the need to export FBX file to max and render there.

But. When I do the export, the fbx creates an individual IES file on the side, for each and every one of the lights! This is a bit strange, as all the light fixtures is of the same family and type... And when max has to use map to all the individual IES files, the rendering takes way too long.

Anyone got a solution? Only need to do 5 renderings by monday.. :s

First, 3000 lights will bring Revit and Max to a halt.

Try using a scope box, or turning off any lights in the scene that do not need to show up in the rendering.

As far as the IES files generated via FBX from Revit to Max--if you are using RAC 2011,
there is a Update which came out today which might improve this?

    Good luck!

    cheers

I got a reply from Support. The problem with the large number of IES files, is a known fbx workflow problem.

I tried to update the file to RAC 2011 and latest webupdate. The problem was still there thou..

    Thanks for your reply Cliff!
