    Angry Curtain Panel Not Centered

I have been using the reporting parameters to roll our "curtain wall" doors into actual curtain wall doors. (Previously we could not access width and height to use in formulas so we had to use real doors on a wall panel...) However, the center of the curtain panel does not seem to end up at the center. It always seems to be off by 3-1/4" regardless of size.

Currently the only fix to have the panel line up with the opening is to align the edges and not the centers. However, this creates problems when you dimension to the "center" of the door.

Is there something I am missing or doing wrong? Has anyone seen this?

I have the same problem with RAC 2011, with last weeks update.

Still trying to find the problem/solution.

    Anyone else?

When you bring in the family, click "overwrite the existing version...."
That could be it - note this is fixed in web update 1

I have tried overwriting the existing version as well as deleting the family from the project and reloading it. The same thing happens when the panel is loaded into a new project, both using WU1.

I've corrected this problem for myself using a template from 2010.
Seems like the template in 2011 is the problem.
    Hope this helps you all.

It very well may be that the "origin" in the 2011 template got moved. I dont mean which Ref Plane is marked as Origin, but where the hidden origin actually is. Un pin everything, and move the entire assembly (reference planes and all) in the correcting direction by that amount. Ill bet it goes back to normal behavior.

Ive see it with Annotation families a LOT.

I have run into this in Revit 2022. I guess the template file was never fixed. I tried to move everything (after unpinning), but nothing would move. I tried starting a new family from the template file, with nothing but what is in the template file, and after unpinning the reference planes, nothing moved. The items in the template file appear to be fixed (and offset to the righ by 3.2489409470" from the "internal origin" of the family.

I found if I left the Center (Left/Right) reference plane unpinned, that in a project file, the contents centered itself on the Curtain Wall opening. That may work in some circumstances, but I worry that there are side effects of doing so that I have not yet seen.

    Progress since yesterday:

The Revit 2024 Door - CW.rft template was fixed by Autodesk. It does not have centering issues. I did find the issue in 2018, 2022, and 2023. (I have not checked 2019, 2020, or 2021 yet.) Late yesterday, I found that the Curtain Panel.dwt did not suffer from the centering problem, and was going to use that to create a working On my commute this morning, I had a brainstorm and found a way to move things in the family. I had to unpin the Center (Left/Right) reference plane AND pin the Right reference plane. Then I could select the Center (Left/Right) reference plane and add the 3.2489409470" to the distance that it already was from the Right reference plane and it moved. Then I unpinned the Right and re-pinned the Center (Left Right).

There were some issues with constraints that had to be removed and then re-applied after manually moving the constrained items. But that was easy. I reloaded the family and now it centers correctly. Now to fix the template files for Revit 2023 and earlier.

Thanks for this! I'm on 2021, been using Revit for years, and I ran into this while building a fancy new curtain wall door. It was driving me crazy, I tried to make it work over and over, and I could not understand that wierd shift!
