    Default Optimal system specs

    Hello,
Not sure if this is the right place to post it. But I have had some trobles with rendering in the past,.. mostly with mental ray,... it gets through say 90% and then crashes. I am looking at building a new computer, any suggestions on what specs I should be looking at to avoid this problem.
    cheers, sam.

Definitely 64bit OS, lots of RAM and processors, and a beefy video card.

Most important rule: 2GB RAM for each single core.
12 cores means 24GB of RAM.
